Skills Progression
The writing skills that each pupils develops progresses from year to year throughout the various units of work. For every unit, the class teachers provides each pupil with a set of targets to complete based on the genre of writing and the pupil's ability. In addition to these sets of targets, the teacher will also incorporate the National Curriculum Statutory Requirements for writing within the units of work so that all aspects are covered within the year. We have included the Statutory Requirements for each year group so that you can see what your child is being taught each year and how your child's writing will progress throughout their time at Booker Avenue Junior School.

Grammar and Punctuation
Below is a document outlining the aspects of grammar and punctuation that are taught within each year group so that you can see how your child's understanding of grammar and punctuation progresses throughout Key Stage 2. In addition to learning new concepts each year, classes will also revise those taught previously.
We have also included the 'Glossary for the Programmes of Study for English' to aid any additional support at home.
